“The EFCC founded its case mainly on an undated and unsigned document.”
ABUJA – The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), challenging a High Court ruling that restrained the prosecution of Aiteo Group CEO, Mr. Benedict Peters.
A panel led by Justice Oye Oyewumi, with Justice Okon Abang, reserved judgment after counsel adopted their final arguments.
The appeal, marked CA/CV/71/2022, also lists the British National Crime Agency (NCA) and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) as appellants.
The High Court had further ruled that the defendants “fraudulently misrepresented facts” and awarded N200 million in damages to Peters and associated companies, condemning what it termed “deceitful sham allegations” and “unlawful means of conspiracy.”
