Nigeria plans to set a Guinness World Record with a 3.6km dining table during the upcoming ‘Oriki: Taste of Culture’ Gastronomy Festival in Abuja.

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest dining table during the ‘Oriki: Taste of Culture’ Gastronomy Festival scheduled for December 6, 2025, in Abuja, according to reporting by Abisoye Fagade, Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).

Fagade stated that the 3.6-kilometer table will accommodate between 2,000 and 3,000 guests and will serve as both a cultural showcase and tourism initiative. “We plan to break the record in the morning of December 6 and use the same table for a dining event later,” he said.

Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, endorsed the initiative, noting that gastronomy contributes to “economic growth and youth development, just like film, music, and fashion.”

President Bola Tinubu is expected to unveil the project. The current record, held by Cairo, Egypt, stands at 3,189.93 meters, which Nigeria’s attempt aims to surpass.
