The Kebbi State Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, has been safely released following his October 31 kidnapping.
Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has regained his freedom after being kidnapped on October 31, 2025, according to Tribune Online reporting.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed his release in a statement issued on Sunday. CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the police Public Relations Officer, said Bagudo has been reunited with his family and received medical attention.
Abubakar commended the courage and resilience of the combined security teams involved in the search and rescue operation, also thanking residents for providing vital information that aided in the lawmaker’s safe return. “Consequently, the State Command reiterates its sustained onslaught against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the state. It urges residents to remain calm, vigilant, and to report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or other security agencies for prompt response,” the statement added.
Bagudo, 60, was abducted from his hometown in Bagudo Local Government Area shortly after evening prayers. Gunmen reportedly stormed the town, seized him, and whisked him away to an unknown location, sparking widespread tension.
Following the abduction, the police, military, and local vigilante groups launched a coordinated manhunt, which ultimately led to his rescue.
