Ex-Army Chief Tukur Buratai has condemned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s confrontation with a soldier, calling it a threat to national security and demanding an apology to President Tinubu.
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (retd.), has condemned the verbal confrontation between Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and a military officer over a disputed plot of land in Abuja.
According to a report from THECABLE, Buratai described the incident as a “palpable threat to national security” that must not be trivialised.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Buratai said Wike’s public altercation with a uniformed officer “transcends mere misconduct” and represents “a reckless endangerment of national order.” He warned that the minister’s actions undermine the military’s chain of command and “disrespects the authority of the Commander-in-Chief.”
“A minister’s verbal assault on a military officer in uniform is an act of profound indiscipline that strikes at the core of our nation’s command and control structure,” the former army chief stated.
Buratai urged Wike to apologise to President Bola Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief, and to the officer involved in the confrontation, insisting that “the integrity of our Armed Forces demands nothing less.”
