House Democrats have released newly uncovered emails in which Jeffrey Epstein claimed Donald Trump knew about his sex-trafficking activities, raising fresh questions about the former president’s ties to the disgraced financier.
According to a report from The New York Times, House Democrats on Wednesday released a series of emails written by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, in which he claimed former President Donald Trump “spent hours at my house” with one of Epstein’s victims and “knew about the girls.”
The revelations have reignited scrutiny over Trump’s past relationship with Epstein, who died by suicide in federal custody in 2019 while facing sex-trafficking charges.
The emails, obtained by the House Oversight Committee, were selected from thousands of documents turned over by Epstein’s estate. Lawmakers said the messages suggest Trump may have been more aware of Epstein’s abuse than he has admitted.
“These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the president,” said Representative Robert Garcia, the committee’s top Democrat.
One 2011 email from Epstein to Ghislaine Maxwell described Trump as “the dog that hasn’t barked,” adding that a victim “spent hours at my house with him.” Another message from 2019 stated, “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop.” The messages also include exchanges with author Michael Wolff, who had warned Epstein that CNN planned to question Trump about their relationship during a 2015 presidential debate.
Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations a “hoax.” He has said he and Epstein “had a falling out” in the early 2000s and insisted he “never engaged in any misconduct.”
The House Oversight Committee’s release of the emails comes amid renewed congressional debate over the Trump administration’s decision to withhold related Epstein files.
