An Enugu woman, Okonkwo Chisom, has been arraigned for allegedly fabricating claims that her husband defiled their daughters, according to a police investigation.
According to a report from The SUN, a woman identified as Okonkwo Chisom has been arraigned for allegedly making false claims that her husband, Okonkwo Ozioma, defiled their two daughters aged five and three.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the Command explained that investigations revealed the allegations were fabricated by the 29-year-old complainant. The case reportedly began on October 25, 2025, when Chisom lodged a complaint at the Emene Division, alleging that her husband had assaulted their daughters and threatened her life.
“Following the husband’s arrest and a diligent investigation, the allegations were found to be false and misleading,” the statement read. Investigations reportedly revealed that during the alleged period of abuse in 2024 and 2025, Chisom had travelled with all the children to their hometown in Imo State.
The police added that statements from the couple’s 7-year-old son and video evidence confirmed that the mother had coached the children to falsely accuse their father. Chisom has since been charged before the Enugu State Magistrate Court for defamation and giving false information.
Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, commended detectives for their “thorough and impartial investigation,” reiterating the Command’s commitment to fairness while warning against malicious allegations.
