“No money was given to the Directorate of Mobilisation.”
Director of Mobilisation of the Obidient Movement, Morris Monye, has resigned, citing poor coordination and financial strain.
In a statement on X Thursday, Monye said despite his passion and personal sacrifices, the movement performed poorly in the just-concluded Anambra governorship election due to weak organisation.
“Almost a year down the line, most of our short, medium, and long-term plans have not been met. I won’t be part of optics and no work,” he wrote, describing the Anambra outcome as a signal that his position was “untenable.”
Monye revealed he personally funded nationwide mobilisation efforts without financial backing from the movement’s leadership or its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“No money was given to the Directorate of Mobilisation… Mr Peter Obi has never asked what we are doing,” he said.
He described his tenure as a “privilege” but said it was time “for someone else to carry the mantle.”
The movement’s leadership has yet to comment on his resignation.
