Families of six kidnapped senior directors of the Federal Ministry of Defence are pleading for their safe release after abductors demanded N150 million.
The families of six senior directors of the Federal Ministry of Defence have expressed deep distress following a ransom demand of N150 million by their abductors, according to a report from SAHARA REPORTERS.
Relatives said the demand has worsened their trauma, leaving them unsure how to raise such a large sum.
“We are still traumatised by what happened. Now the kidnappers are asking for N150 million to release all six of them. How can we possibly raise such a huge sum? We beg them to free our loved ones unharmed; that is all we can plead for at this point,” a family member said.
The six directors — Mrs Ngozi Ibeziakor, Mrs C. Emeribe, Mrs Helen Ezeakor, Mrs C. Ladoye, Mrs J. Onwuzurike, and Mrs Catherine Essien — were kidnapped along the Kabba–Lokoja highway on Monday, November 10, 2025, while travelling from Lagos to Abuja for a Directorate-level promotion examination, SaharaReporters reported.
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) condemned the attack in a statement signed by its President, Shehu Mohammed, and Secretary-General, Joshua Apebo.
The union revealed that the Ministry of Defence had mobilised security operatives to secure the release of the officials and reiterated calls for decentralised promotion examinations to avoid long-distance travel for civil servants.
Security sources described the kidnapping as a “well-coordinated attack,” heightening concerns about the safety of civil servants on official duties.
Families continue to appeal to the abductors to release the victims unharmed.
