Army debunks abduction of Brig.-Gen. Uba, confirms two soldiers and two CJTF members killed in Borno ambush.

The Nigerian Army has denied reports that the Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General M. Uba, was abducted by ISWAP terrorists.

Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, described social media rumours as “entirely false” and intended to cause panic. She urged the public to disregard the claims.

The army confirmed that two soldiers and two Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members were killed in an ambush around Wajiroko, Damboa LGA, Borno State, during a routine patrol near Sambisa Forest.

Anele said, “Sadly, two soldiers and two CJTF members paid the supreme price while serving the nation.” She added that Brig.-Gen. Uba’s patrol team fought back bravely, forcing the insurgents to retreat. The Army High Command condoled with the families, describing the fallen personnel’s sacrifice as heroic.
