Suspected armed herdsmen have launched fresh attacks on Div, Nzaav and Jato-Aka in the Turan axis of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, leaving two persons dead and many others injured, according to a report from DAILY POST.

The two identified victims, Iornenge Utyo and Ywerkaa Tsavnande, were recovered lifeless after the attacks, while several residents mostly women and children remain missing as search operations intensify across the affected villages.

According to community members, the armed herders invaded the communities in the early hours of the day, forcing many residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety. Locals say the full extent of destruction is still unclear, as villagers continue combing deserted homes, surrounding farmlands and adjoining forests in search of missing persons.

Survivors reported widespread panic in the area as families struggle to account for their relatives and rebuild their lives following the coordinated assaults. Community leaders warn that the renewed violence could trigger further displacement if urgent security reinforcements are not deployed.

Residents are calling on security agencies and the Benue State government to intervene swiftly to prevent additional bloodshed and restore order in the embattled Turan region. They expressed fears that continued attacks could destabilise more communities if left unchecked.
