Damilola “Princess” Adekoya has responded to public criticism following Baba Ijesha’s release after serving a jail term for sexually assaulting her foster daughter.

Actress and comedienne Damilola “Princess” Adekoya has reacted to the release of actor Olanrewaju “Baba Ijesha” James, three years after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, her foster daughter, according to a report from PREMIUM TIMES. Baba Ijesha was released on Friday after serving the jail term handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of Ikeja Special Offences Court in July 2022.

Addressing backlash on social media, Princess posted a video sarcastically challenging critics, stating, “Send their daughters to Baba Ijesha for Christmas.” She outlined three ways the release was beneficial: victims received some measure of justice, incarceration prevented further crimes during his sentence, and public awareness ensures people remain cautious. “Now everyone is aware… when they see him, they know they’ll be careful,” she said.

Princess warned landlords and schools to exercise caution, claiming Baba Ijesha had also assaulted adults and vulnerable individuals. Responding to criticism, she asserted, “I don’t really understand the depth of your understanding… Do you think God supports child defilement or rape? Baba Ijesha is a serial pedophile and serial rapist.”

She appealed to the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to record Baba Ijesha in the sex offenders register and emphasized that she had fulfilled her duty in ensuring justice. “I have done mine as a Nigerian, as a concerned mother… to rid our community of this evil,” Princess added, warning that he could reoffend.
