ABUJA — A young Nigerian Navy officer, Lt. A.M. Yarima, who was recently involved in a high-profile confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, reportedly escaped a suspected attack by unidentified assailants in Abuja on Sunday evening.

The incident, which occurred around 6:30 p.m., is currently under official investigation by military authorities.

According to military sources who spoke to Vanguard, Lt. Yarima was trailed by unidentified men dressed in black and riding in two unmarked Hilux vans with no number plates. The vehicles allegedly followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasco Way.

The source reported that the officer noticed the surveillance and executed a “strategic maneuver,” successfully evading the suspected assailants.

The source added that the matter is under investigation and is receiving “the seriousness it deserves,” noting that further details are being withheld so as not to compromise the process. The nature of the previous confrontation between Lt. Yarima and Minister Wike was not detailed, but the timing of the alleged attack has raised significant concern.
