The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced suspended UNICAL Law Dean, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, to five years in prison after finding him guilty of sexually harassing a female student, while his co-defendant, lawyer Sunny Anyanwu, was discharged and acquitted.
The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday sentenced Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), to five years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty of sexually harassing a female student.
Justice James Omotosho ruled that the ICPC had proven counts one and two “beyond a reasonable doubt,” holding that Ndifon abused his position by pressuring the student to send him “pornographic, indecent and obscene photographs of herself” and to perform sexual acts in exchange for admission.
The judge described Ndifon as “a disgrace to the community of learner persons,” adding that his conduct showed he “turned himself to a sexual predator.” While Ndifon received a two-year term on count one and five years on count two, to run concurrently, his co-defendant, lawyer Sunny Anyanwu, was discharged and acquitted after the court found no sufficient link between him and the alleged attempts to influence the investigation.
