The US House Appropriations Committee will submit a report to the White House on alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria, as President Trump redesignates the country a “Country of Particular Concern” and hints at possible military action.
According to a report from SAHARAREPORTERS, the United States House Appropriations Committee is preparing to submit a report to the White House on its investigation into the alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria. The committee disclosed this on its X account, noting that “Appropriator Rep Riley Moore has been at the forefront of bringing attention to the brutal persecution of Christians in Nigeria.”
Subcommittee Chairman MarioDB added that his FY26 NSRP bill “reaffirms @POTUS’ CPC designation, and our committee is preparing a report for the @WhiteHouse.” Earlier, President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria… Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it.”
Trump also suggested the United States may consider military intervention if the killings continue. Moore criticized the Nigerian government for failing to prioritize the protection of Christians despite receiving substantial US security assistance. “My brothers and sisters in Christ are murdered for practicing their faith… if we don’t address this… we would have to address it one way or the other,” he said. Moore vowed to provide a detailed report soon, commending Trump’s “bold and decisive action to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ.”
The report underscores growing US concern over religious violence in Nigeria and signals potential diplomatic and military involvement.
