An 85-year-old man with COPD in Carlisle has improved his mobility and breathing through rehabilitation classes that include exercise, weight training, and dance.
Glen Adams, 85, who suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), has seen remarkable improvement in his mobility and stamina after joining rehabilitation classes at Harraby Community Centre in Carlisle. Initially struggling to walk short distances, Glen can now move around the centre with ease, thanks to a combination of exercise, weight training, and dance.
Referred by his GP, he benefits from trained instructors who provide confidence and guidance. Once a heavy smoker, Glen’s story highlights that while COPD cannot be cured, early intervention and consistent physical activity can significantly improve quality of life. The NHS encourages anyone with ongoing respiratory symptoms to seek medical advice early.
