Donald Trump has criticised Nigeria as “a disgrace”, accusing the government of failing to stop mass killings and escalating attacks across the country.
“I think Nigeria’s a disgrace, the whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it…”

US President Donald Trump has described Nigeria as “a disgrace”, accusing the federal government of failing to protect citizens amid rising insecurity.
Speaking on Fox News Radio’s ‘The Brian Kilmeade Show’, Trump said, “I think Nigeria is a disgrace… They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide,” and warned that the US may stop giving “a lot of subsidy to Nigeria”.
His remarks follow a series of deadly attacks, including Friday’s raid on St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Niger state, where 315 people — 303 students and 12 teachers — were abducted.
Authorities say tactical police teams and military units have been deployed, while the incident comes shortly after 25 female students were kidnapped in Kebbi state, resulting in the death of vice-principal Hassan Makuku and injuries to a security guard.
Trump, who earlier threatened military action in Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians, said, “The government’s done nothing… They’re killing Christians at will.”
