Forum urges Tinubu to keep Muslim-Muslim ticket, warns against “needless risk of changing a winning team.”
The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has warned President Bola Tinubu against dropping Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections. The group cautioned that such a move could cost Tinubu up to 80 percent of northern Muslim votes.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the Forum described the Muslim-Muslim ticket as a winning strategy, arguing that Tinubu’s achievements and key appointments of Middle Belt Christians like APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and SGF George Akume guarantee support.
The Forum dismissed claims that the ticket alienates Christians, saying those calling for Shettima’s removal “did not vote for Tinubu in 2023 and will not in 2027.” It also warned against sidelining northern Muslims while wooing Christians, calling it “counterproductive.”
“Our sincere advice for Mr President is to maintain the status quo. Changing Shettima will not yield positive results,” the statement read.
