ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body inside a vehicle at the National Assembly car park on Sunday.

Spokesperson of the Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, noting that the case was reported through a distress call.

“On September 7, 2025, about 9a.m., the FCT Police Command received a distress call reporting the discovery of an unidentified male, suspected to be a labourer, found lifeless at a construction site within the National Assembly Complex,” Adeh said.

According to her, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, promptly responded and discovered the body in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF.

“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” she added.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and directed officers to intensify efforts to establish the deceased’s identity.

The discovery has raised security concerns within the National Assembly Complex as lawmakers resumed deliberations on economic sabotage in the petroleum sector.
