“The north would not vote for him because the region wanted a Muslim president.”
Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has dismissed the presidential ambitions of both former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and ex-Anambra governor Peter Obi. In his latest prophetic statements, Ayodele asserted that neither Amaechi nor Obi will emerge as Nigeria’s president in the 2027 elections, despite their involvement in the ADC coalition movement.
Ayodele criticized Peter Obi for focusing his charity efforts on the north, accusing the Labour Party’s 2023 candidate of pandering for support. He insisted, “the north would not vote for him because the region wanted a Muslim president.” The cleric likened Amaechi’s coalition activities to Obi’s, describing both as ultimately fruitless.
The ADC coalition, spearheaded by Atiku Abubakar, has united notable politicians including Obi and Amaechi. The party, now led in the interim by David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, has positioned itself as the primary opposition ahead of 2027. Both Atiku, Amaechi, and Obi are reportedly vying for the party’s presidential ticket.
Legal analyst Titilope Anifowoshe cautioned that the ideal coalition candidate should be chosen on merit and vision rather than political arithmetic or personality. “Beyond personality, what Nigeria needs is a coalition based on shared vision, not just electoral arithmetic,” she said. Meanwhile, the ADC recently faced criticism for politicizing Buhari’s burial, being urged not to exploit national sentiments.
