The ADC rejected the Presidency’s denial of a 2031 agenda, insisting President Tinubu’s tenure must end in 2027 amid worsening insecurity and economic hardship.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has faulted the Presidency over its claim that President Bola Tinubu has no plans to remain in office beyond 2031, stressing that his mandate ends in 2027.
In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said Nigerians would not accept any extension of Tinubu’s tenure, citing worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and rising taxes.
“The presidency’s desperate response to El-Rufai’s remarks only confirms what Nigerians have long suspected,” Abdullahi said. “Re-election is not automatic, and President Tinubu has not earned a second term. He has divided the country like no other President before him and sent Nigerians deeper into poverty.”
The ADC accused the administration of failing in security, economy, power, and governance, warning that talk of a second term was “insensitive and dangerous.” It insisted Tinubu should “prepare to leave” rather than plot to stay beyond 2027.
