Police confirm object in Pastor Adefarasin’s viral video was a stun gun, not a firearm.
The Lagos State Police Command has cleared Pastor Paul Adefarasin of wrongdoing after investigating a viral video in which he appeared to be holding a gun-like object.
Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said on Wednesday that the object was confirmed to be a stun gun, not a firearm. “After a thorough investigation, including interrogation and a cautionary statement from Pastor Adefarasin, it was established that the object in question was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon or firearm,” the statement read.
The police added that there were no sufficient grounds to continue with the case and formally discontinued it.
The incident occurred on June 6, 2025, when a video showed Adefarasin lowering his car window while holding the object. The clip sparked social media reactions, prompting the pastor to clarify: “I want to assure you that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
