Governor Ademola Adeleke dismissed rumours of defection to ADC, insisting he remains committed to PDP despite ongoing party defections in Osun.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied fresh claims that he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement on Wednesday signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke dismissed the reports as “a calculated attempt by those afraid of the Governor’s soaring acceptability to create confusion and uncertainty in the minds of the people of Osun State.”
The governor had in the past been linked with a possible move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) but later reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, pledging to seek re-election on the party’s platform.
The latest rumours emerged amid the leadership tussle rocking the PDP nationally. Adeleke, however, restated his commitment to the party, saying his focus remained on delivering good governance. “Governor Adeleke remains committed to the PDP and has no plan whatsoever to join the ADC or any party for that matter,” Rasheed said.
The governor also urged the public to disregard the speculation and concentrate on mobilising for the upcoming elections.
Osun PDP has suffered notable defections to the APC, including lawmakers Wole Oke, Adenigba Fadahunsi, Olubiyi Fadeyi, Taofeek Ajilesoro, and Olusanya Ominrin.
