“The affected data does not contain passwords, credit card, or any other payment-related information,” Adidas clarified.
Adidas has confirmed that customer data was stolen from a third-party service provider following unauthorized access.
The company stated that the breach involved mostly contact information from individuals who had previously reached out to its customer service desk.
“The affected data does not contain passwords, credit card, or any other payment-related information,” Adidas clarified.
Customers typically provide names, email addresses, and, optionally, order numbers when contacting support—information that may have been compromised. On May 23, Adidas began notifying impacted users and reported the breach to relevant authorities.
“We immediately took steps to contain the incident and launched a comprehensive investigation, collaborating with leading information security experts,” the company said. “We remain fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of our consumers.”
Although the breach appears less severe than the recent Coinbase data theft, experts warn of phishing risks. Javvad Malik, a security advocate at KnowBe4, noted, “The theft of personal contact details poses risks for potential phishing or other social engineering attacks.”
