Afenifere has urged President Bola Tinubu to overhaul Nigeria’s security architecture, alleging that recent terrorist attacks in Kwara and Kebbi indicate “insider collusion,” sabotage and intelligence leaks within the system.

The pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently restructure the nation’s security framework, warning that recent terrorist attacks in Kwara and Kebbi States suggest “high-level complicity, sabotage and attempts to turn the people against the government.”

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Jare Ajayi, the group said the pattern of violence showed signs of insider collaboration, adding that “the sophistication of these attacks shows careful planning by elements versed in military and intelligence operations.”

Afenifere condemned the killings in Kwara and Kebbi and demanded a probe into the N6.57 trillion defence allocation in the 2025 budget, arguing that rising insecurity contradicts claims of adequate funding.

The group urged the government to implement the National Counter-Terrorism Strategy, enforce the Terrorism Prevention Act, intensify surveillance by the SSS and military intelligence, scrutinize illegal mining sites, deploy retired security officers to support manpower gaps, fast-track state police creation, and strengthen anti-graft oversight of defence spending, while also cautioning politicians allegedly exploiting insecurity.
