Air Canada, flight attendants union reach agreement to end strike

Unpaid work is over. We have reclaimed our voice and our power.

Air Canada has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing approximately 10,000 flight attendants, bringing an end to the strike that disrupted summer travel. Flights are set to resume gradually starting Tuesday evening.

The core of the agreement ensures flight attendants will receive pay for tasks performed while planes are on the ground—a key issue that sparked the walkout. “Unpaid work is over. We have reclaimed our voice and our power,” the union declared.

Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau acknowledged the logistical complexity of ramping up operations. “Full restoration may require a week or more, so we ask for our customers’ patience and understanding over the coming days,” he said, cautioning that some flights will remain canceled until schedules stabilize.
