“Monitoring reports yesterday indicated that an Air Peace aircraft ran into a large antelope, decimating the animal and leaving the aircraft on ground,”
An Air Peace aircraft collided with a large antelope while taxiing on the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, causing flight disruptions.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, led to the aircraft being marked as Aircraft on Ground (AOG), delaying scheduled operations.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu.
“Monitoring reports yesterday indicated that an Air Peace aircraft ran into a large antelope, decimating the animal and leaving the aircraft on ground,” he stated on X (formerly Twitter).
He added that while the incident was beyond the airline’s control, Air Peace must fulfill obligations to affected passengers.
