Air Peace has contested an NSIB report that crew members tested positive for alcohol and cannabis after a July flight incident.
Air Peace has disputed the preliminary report issued by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) on its Boeing 737-524 aircraft incident in Port Harcourt on July 13.
The NSIB said toxicology tests revealed that some crew members tested positive for alcohol, while a cabin crew member tested positive for THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. It added that the report is still under review as part of its human performance and safety assessment.
Air Peace, in a statement, said it was shocked that more than a month after the incident, it had yet to receive official communication from the Bureau. The airline stressed that it maintains strict zero-tolerance rules on drugs and applies tighter alcohol restrictions than aviation regulations require.
It added that the flight captain had been grounded for failing to follow Crew Resource Management procedures but insisted there was no official confirmation of a failed alcohol test.
