The Lagos State Police Command has announced plans to conduct an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise at Eko Atlantic City on Thursday as part of efforts to improve emergency preparedness and response.

According to a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, the exercise will involve controlled detonations by specialized units trained in handling explosive devices. He noted that “the exercise will produce blast sounds audible in and around Eko Atlantic City,” but assured that the detonations pose no danger as there will be no shrapnel or harmful effects.

The Command advised residents, workers, and visitors in the area to remain calm and continue with their activities without panic.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, appealed for public cooperation, stressing that the simulation is vital for strengthening security in Lagos. “The Command remains committed to the safety, security, and well-being of all Lagosians,” the statement read.
