Alexander Isak has told Newcastle he wants to leave for Liverpool, despite no agreement on valuation.
Alexander Isak has reiterated his intention to leave Newcastle United for Liverpool, despite strong opposition from the club’s hierarchy. Telegraph Sport reports that Isak refused to return to training after meetings with chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and co-owner Jamie Reuben failed to resolve the impasse.
Liverpool’s initial £110m bid was rejected, and the club is unwilling to meet Newcastle’s £150m asking price. “I think that’s the ideal from everyone, the Newcastle side, that we want clarity,” manager Eddie Howe said, adding he has not spoken to Isak recently.
With only six days left in the transfer window, Isak is expected to miss the game against Leeds, having already skipped matches against Aston Villa and Liverpool. Newcastle insists any sale depends on securing two new strikers. Meanwhile, fans have shown their anger, with some displaying anti-Isak signs outside St James’ Park.
Liverpool is reportedly considering a second offer, but only if Newcastle signals willingness to negotiate.
