Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI and incoming head of Meta’s superintelligence division, says he’s delaying having children until brain-computer interfaces like Neuralink are available.
Speaking on the Shawn Ryan Show, Wang said, “Kids who are born with them are gonna learn how to use them in like crazy, crazy ways.”
He believes early adoption of such technologies during childhood, when neuroplasticity is highest, will allow unprecedented cognitive development.
Neuralink, Elon Musk’s brain-chip company, has embedded devices in three patients so far, including one with ALS who used the chip to edit a video.
Other companies like Synchron and Motif Neurotech are also advancing neurotechnology for medical and cognitive enhancement.
Wang predicts that children raised with brain-interface technologies will far surpass adults in adapting to them. He’s holding off on parenthood, hoping these tools will be ready to help “build the next generation” of human intelligence from birth.
