Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi says he is willing to serve only one term as Nigeria’s president if he secures the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Amaechi stated: “Of course,” when asked if he would step down after four years in office. He cited the importance of zoning for national stability.
“For now, the way Nigeria is, you must keep to that unwritten agreement that says south eight years, north eight years,” he said.
Amaechi also criticised the Tinubu administration, describing it as worse than Buhari’s “by all standards.” He alleged that INEC is no longer independent and accused government officials of preventing opposition parties’ registration.
“Security under Buhari was a priority. Transportation saw progress,” he said.

Peter Obi has similarly pledged to serve a single term if elected.
