Labour Party candidate George Moghalu has rejected the Anambra governorship election results, alleging widespread vote-buying, underage voting, and ballot irregularities.

The Labour Party candidate in the November 8, 2025, Anambra State governorship election, George Moghalu, has rejected the outcome of the poll, according to PUNCH reporting.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance winner of the election on Sunday. Soludo polled 422,664 votes to defeat Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 99,445 votes, and Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party, who got 37,753 votes. Moghalu came fourth with 10,576 votes.

Speaking to journalists in Nnewi, Moghalu alleged widespread irregularities, claiming that “the exercise was marred by widespread vote buying and reports of underage voting in some areas.” He said, “Children who were not supposed to be carrying voter cards were openly seen with them and allowed to vote.”

Moghalu also alleged that in some polling units, the Labour Party’s name appeared on the ballot without its logo, which made it difficult for voters to identify the party.

He added that while he has not decided to challenge the result in court, his campaign team would review full reports before determining the next step.
