A new report from Intersociety alleges that 102 Christians were killed and 114 abducted across Nigeria within 14 days.
According to a DAILY POST, at least 102 Christians were killed and 114 others abducted across Nigeria between October 28 and November 11. The rights group made the findings public in a document released to journalists on Monday in Enugu.
The report, signed by Emeka Umeagbalasi and other senior officials of Intersociety, stated that “an average of seven Christians have been killed daily and eight abducted in fourteen days.” It detailed the fatalities as: “34 killed in Taraba, 22 in Plateau, 16 in Kaduna, 15 in Benue, 4 in Borno, 1 in Edo plus ‘dark figures’ of ten.” Abductions were also recorded across several states, including “50 abducted in Kaduna, 30 in Taraba, 6 in Plateau, 6 in Benue, 12 in Kogi/Kwara axis plus ‘dark figures’ of 10.”
Intersociety said the report shows “there is no end in sight in the coordinated attacks against Nigeria’s defenseless Christians,” alleging that eight Christian clerics were killed and several ancestral communities sacked.
The group warned that multiple Islamic terror groups, including JNIM, are expanding into Nigeria, posing heightened threats to Christian communities. It urged the Federal Government to overhaul security institutions and issue “firm and matching orders” to security agencies to confront armed groups.
The organization concluded that “nothing seems to have been done to practically and concretely remedy the situation till date.”
