Four rice farmers were abducted in Bokungi Village, Edu LGA, less than 24 hours after terrorists attacked a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA.
Four farmers have been abducted in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, barely a day after gunmen invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA, killing three worshippers and kidnapping several others, according to a report from SAHARAREPORTERS.
Sources told the platform that the latest attack occurred on Wednesday evening while the victims were working on their rice farms during the peak of the harvest season. A community source said the attackers arrived suddenly and surrounded the farmers as they gathered their harvested rice. “It has been confirmed that bandits struck again at Bokungi under the Lafiagi Emirate. Four people were abducted. Information is still emerging,” the source said.
Residents explained that the gunmen operated for several minutes without any resistance before forcing the victims into the bush and taking them toward an unknown location. Community members also reported that increasing insecurity in Edu LGA has led to the desertion of several farming settlements, with many farmers afraid to visit their fields during harvest.
The Kwara State Police Command had yet to release a statement at the time of filing this report.
SaharaReporters earlier detailed how terrorists stormed a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) branch in Eruku on Tuesday evening, killing three people and abducting an unspecified number when they opened fire during a meeting.
