Antony says only his family knows how hard it was to wait for his Real Betis move.

Antony has described his move to Real Betis as a relief after enduring what he called a “very hard” period at Manchester United. The Brazilian winger completed a €25 million (£21.7m) transfer to Betis on Deadline Day, ending weeks of uncertainty over his future.

“What a difference! Seville is more beautiful than Manchester. I’m finally here,” Antony said at his unveiling in Triana. “I spent more than 40 days in a hotel; it was very hard, but everyone knew I wanted to return to Betis.”

The 25-year-old joined United from Ajax for €95m in 2022 but failed to impress, scoring 12 goals in 96 appearances. Antony revived his career on loan at Betis last season, contributing 14 goals and assists in 26 matches.

“Only my family knows how difficult it was,” he added, recalling the long negotiations. Antony has signed a contract until 2030 and vowed to help Betis push for Champions League qualification.
