Defending the N7.7bn aircraft purchase, Oyo Information Commissioner said they were “equipped with sophisticated surveillance gadgets… to prevent and destroy bandits in their hideouts.”

Opposition parties in Oyo State, the All Progressives Congress and African Democratic Congress, on Wednesday condemned Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for what they called reckless spending on newly approved projects.

Oyo APC spokesperson Wale Sadare described it as “the height of profligacy and executive rascality,” saying, “The projects he is awarding at inflated costs are not even primary on the scale of preference.”

Similarly, ADC chairman Olona Yinka said, “Well, my view is that I could see it as a misplacement of priority… Give this money to the 33 local governments… Like the tar roads, schools are already dilapidated.”

Defending the N7.7bn aircraft purchase, Information Commissioner Dotun Oyelade said they were “equipped with sophisticated surveillance gadgets… to prevent and destroy bandits in their hideouts.”

He added, “DA 42 MNG models are less expensive to maintain… the Nigerian Air Force possesses a number… which gives room for synergy.”
