“There is no room for consensus in continuous hunger and chronic poverty in Nigeria, no room for consensus in economic quagmire, no room for consensus on insecurity in Nigeria…”

Chief Charles Udeogaranya, a 2019 APC presidential aspirant, has dismissed calls for an automatic ticket for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election. His statement follows the endorsement of Tinubu by APC leaders, governors, and lawmakers at the party’s National Summit in Abuja. Udeogaranya insisted that democracy demands fair competition, not preferential treatment.

In a personal statement, he declared, “while I deeply and respectfully appreciate my fellow APC members on their Abuja Summit… this democracy… will not fail in Nigeria, come 2027.” He criticized consensus politics, linking it to Nigeria’s challenges, stating, “no room for consensus in continuous hunger… insecurity… nepotism.”

Udeogaranya affirmed his intention to contest the presidency under the APC, pledging to prioritize creativity, nationalism, and prosperity. His stance signals internal dissent within the party as the 2027 race heats up.
