The Nigerian Army has urged residents of the South East to disregard a fresh sit-at-home order issued by terrorists, assuring that the region is secure and that freedom of movement is fully guaranteed.

The Nigerian Army has called on residents of the South East to ignore a new sit-at-home order circulated online by what it described as terrorists seeking to instill fear and disrupt economic activities in the region.

In a statement signed by Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni of the 82 Division, the Army said the threat was “designed to create fear in the public domain, disrupt sources of livelihood and destabilize the South East Region,” adding that such illegal directives “will not hold.”

The military assured that “Freedom of Movement is Protected” and that a robust, multi-agency security plan has been activated to safeguard lives, property and critical infrastructure.

It urged residents to remain calm, continue their lawful activities, and report suspicious movements, while warning that any criminal elements attempting to enforce the fake order would be “decisively dealt with according to the law.”
