Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka struck as Arsenal secured a 2-0 win over West Ham, giving Mikel Arteta a victorious 300th game in charge.
Mikel Arteta marked his 300th game as Arsenal manager with a 2-0 Premier League win over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Declan Rice, facing his former club, put Arsenal ahead in the 38th minute after Martin Zubimendi set up Eberechi Eze, whose shot was parried into Rice’s path. Bukayo Saka sealed the victory with a penalty midway through the second half.
It was a milestone evening for Arteta, although not without concern, as captain Martin Odegaard limped off injured in the first half. Viktor Gyökeres also saw his goal drought extend to six matches.
West Ham, under new manager Nuno Espírito Santo, struggled throughout and remain in the relegation zone after their fifth league defeat of the season.
Rice celebrated his goal modestly against his old side but received an ovation from teammates as Arsenal strengthened their position near the top of the table before the international break.
