Arsenal open talks for Eberechi Eze as Crystal Palace star pushes for exit

Arsenal have opened talks with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze, who is eager to join the Gunners despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal have entered negotiations with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze after Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury that could sideline him for an extended period. The 27-year-old England international, who grew up an Arsenal fan and once played in the club’s academy, is keen on the move.

Tottenham had reached an agreement with Palace and the player but may now turn to alternative targets, with Arsenal ready to meet the conditions set by Palace. The South London club delayed finalising any deal to keep Eze available for Thursday’s Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad.

Eze ended last season with nine goals in his final 13 matches, including the winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Despite transfer speculation, he started in Palace’s Community Shield win over Liverpool and the Premier League opener against Chelsea.

Manager Oliver Glasner said after Sunday’s goalless draw at Stamford Bridge: “You are just talking about rumours. Eberechi Eze is a Crystal Palace player.”
