Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard came off the bench to score and assist late on, sealing Arsenal’s Champions League win and highlighting the team’s squad depth.
This was a reminder both of Arsenal’s new-found squad depth, but also that those players knocked down the pecking order by the summer’s lavish recruitment drive should not be written off just yet.

This was a reminder both of Arsenal’s new-found squad depth, but also that those players knocked down the pecking order by the summer’s lavish recruitment drive should not be written off just yet.
Just as this game appeared to be drifting towards goalless stalemate, the visitors flung on Gabriel Martinelli, and, less than a minute into his appearance off the bench, the Brazilian made his mark.
As if to labour the point, Martinelli went on to set up his fellow substitute Leandro Trossard three minutes from time to secure an impressive win and ensure Arsenal are up and running in this season’s Champions League.
