ASUU branches at the University of Jos and University of Abuja have already commenced strike action.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed members nationwide to withdraw their services over delayed payment of June 2025 salaries, enforcing its “No Pay, No Work” policy.
ASUU branches at the University of Jos and University of Abuja have already commenced strike action. ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, confirmed the directive Monday in Abuja.
“What they are doing is just enforcing a NEC resolution,” he said. “We have agreed at NEC that our members are going through a lot since our migration out of the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System. Certainly, our salaries are delayed for a week and sometimes 10 days… Therefore, we agreed that if there is no pay, there will be no work.”
Piwuna accused the Office of the Accountant General of deliberately delaying payments despite no technical issues. He also warned that an outstanding N10 billion Earned Academic Allowance should be settled to avoid further industrial action.
