At least six people have died and 20 children are missing after severe flooding along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas, on Friday.

Heavy rainfall caused the river to rise nearly 30 feet, surging 20 feet in just one hour.

Two girls from Camp Mystic remain unaccounted for as helicopters evacuate other campers. Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. declared a disaster, while Governor Greg Abbott confirmed the deployment of “water rescue teams, sheltering centers, the National Guard, [and] the Texas Department of Public Safety.”

Senator Ted Cruz urged prayers, stating, “Today, I’ve spoken with Gov Abbott, Lt. Gov Patrick, the head of TDEM & President Trump. Multiple helicopters are performing search & rescue. President Trump committed ANYTHING Texas needs.”

Nearly 3,000 people were without power, and local funeral homes reported being overwhelmed. A Walmart serves as a reunification center, while the Red Cross provides support. Emergency crews continue search and rescue efforts.
