Atiku demands explanation over Tinubu’s alleged links to ‘Chicago classmate’ Zingman

Mr. President, Nigerians deserve to know why the mystery around your academic record deepens

Former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar has urged President Bola Tinubu to clarify his claimed academic tie to Belarusian businessman Alex Zingman, describing it as implausible and demanding full transparency. Tinubu recently stated that Zingman was his “classmate at Chicago State University,” but available records contradict this assertion.

The Atiku Media Office highlighted a key inconsistency: Zingman, born in 1966, would have been 13 in 1979—allegedly the year of Tinubu’s CSU graduation. “Are we now to believe that the Guinness Book of Records missed the story of a 13‑year‑old Belarusian prodigy graduating from an American university alongside Bola Ahmed Tinubu?” the statement asked .

Additional questions arose around missing classmates from both Government College in Lagos and CSU, and the issuance of a CSU certificate dated before the school’s founding in 1972. “Mr. President, Nigerians deserve to know why the mystery around your academic record deepens…” the statement read .

Atiku’s camp called for full disclosure of Tinubu’s academic documents and claimed associations with Zingman, citing the importance of integrity in public office.
