Atiku Abubakar’s media aide Paul Ibe has said the former Vice President deserves a Nobel Prize for his persistence in seeking the presidency, stressing his wealth, service, and sense of obligation to Nigeria.
Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said his principal deserves a Nobel Prize for his persistence in contesting Nigeria’s presidency over the decades.
Atiku, who has been a presidential aspirant since 1992, is widely expected to be in the race for the 2027 election, although he has not made a formal declaration. Appearing on Trust TV’s *Daily Politics* on Thursday, Ibe rejected claims that Atiku has run too many times.
“Atiku Abubakar has been on the ballot three times for the record. That was in 2007 under the AC, 2019 under the PDP and 2023 under the PDP. So, it’s actually three times,” he clarified.
When told Atiku had also aspired in 2011 and 2015, Ibe replied, “Atiku Abubakar should get a Nobel Prize for that,” adding that the former Vice President believes he still has much to offer Nigeria.
He explained that Atiku feels obligated to the country for the opportunities it gave him in education, public service, and business.
According to him, Atiku was already a billionaire before becoming Vice President in 1999 and “single-handedly bought the Wadata Plaza for the PDP.”
