Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said he is not desperate to contest the 2027 presidency, stressing that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a movement for good governance, not personal ambition.
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has declared that he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s president in 2027, insisting his focus is on ensuring good governance.
Speaking through his representative, Prof Ola Olateju of Achievers University, Ondo, at a Lagos event welcoming defectors into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku said his political mission is about nation-building rather than personal ambition.
“Atiku Abubakar’s plan is to build a better Nigeria. It’s not about him being president. It’s about having a good government that can deliver for Nigerians,” Olateju said.
The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate emphasised that the ADC represents more than a political platform. “ADC, to us, is not a political party. It is a movement — a movement of Nigerians for a better Nigeria,” he added.
On the 2027 elections, Atiku noted that the ADC presidential flag bearer would emerge through free and fair contests, stressing, “We are not imposing anyone on the people.”
