“These irregular payments were identified through the Remita salary platform,” the report noted.
AKURE — Two local government officials appointed by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa have been accused of illegally collecting dual salaries, according to a newly released state audit report.
The report alleges Mr. Amubieya Samuel Adeniyi, Secretary to Akoko North West LG, drew both civil service and political office salaries from August 2024 to February 2025.
“This sharp practices contravenes… the 1999 Nigerian Constitution,” auditors said, ordering a refund of ₦995,448.34.
Similarly, Mr. John Ayo Emmanuel, Caretaker Chairman of Akoko South South LCDA, was accused of “double dipping” by receiving political and statutory salaries simultaneously. Auditors demanded ₦1.56 million be recovered.
“These irregular payments were identified through the Remita salary platform,” the report noted.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, said: “This will be investigated and appropriate actions taken by the government.”
The audit findings raise questions about oversight of salary payments in Ondo State’s local governments.
