A new faction within the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, next in line to produce the Awujale of Ijebuland, has emerged, identifying itself as the “Original Fusengbuwa Ruling House.”

A new faction has surfaced within the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the family due to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland, calling itself the “Original Fusengbuwa Ruling House.”

The faction’s coordinator, Chief Fassy Yusuf, announced this on Thursday at the Oba Adesimbo Tunwase Museum and Hall in Ijebu-Ode, saying the group consists of the Jadiara, Bubiade, Tunwase, and Fusengbuwa Royal Houses.

He explained that the term “Original” was adopted only for distinction and not to exclude other members. Yusuf added that the mourning period for the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, would end on October 11, paving the way for succession.

Quoting the 1957 Chiefs Law declaration, he stressed that the four entitled ruling houses are Gbelegbuwa, Anikinlaiya, Fusengbuwa, and Fidipote. He dismissed claims by the Folagbade Adenuga group, noting it is not listed in the declaration.

Yusuf also announced plans for a family database and free Expression of Interest forms for aspirants, supported by voluntary contributions.
