Back your son’s council chairmanship bid – Agege stakeholders beg Obasa

We consider our earnest desire to have Abdulganiyu as our Council Chairman as a way of rewarding the numerous humanitarian endeavours of the Speaker in Agege land and beyond.

Stakeholders in Agege Local Government, Lagos, have urged House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa to allow his son, Abdulganiyu “Vinod” Obasa, to contest the upcoming council chairmanship election. The group, including incumbent Chairman Ganiyu Egunjobi and APC leaders, praised Vinod’s qualifications—a UK-educated finance professional with experience at PWC and Providus Bank—as ideal for leadership. “He can take Agege to new heights given his community service, experience, and academic achievements,” Egunjobi said, citing Vinod’s PhD pursuit and local impact through his football academy.

The appeal comes ahead of the July 12 LG polls, with APC aspirants jostling for tickets. The stakeholders argued Vinod’s private sector background and youth engagement initiatives align with Agege’s development needs. “Our agitation stems from his outstanding profile,” Egunjobi added, dismissing Speaker Obasa’s reported reluctance. The move highlights political dynasties’ influence in Lagos’ grassroots governance.
