The leading candidates in the most popular category – Men’s Ballon d’Or – Barcelona captain Raphinha and Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele.
The organizers of the Ballon d’Or have confirmed that the 2025 edition of the prestigious football award will be held on Monday, September 22, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The event, first held in 1956, will be jointly organized by France Football, UEFA, and L’Équipe.
This year’s ceremony will introduce new categories: the Women’s Kopa Trophy, Women’s Yashin Trophy, and Women’s Gerd Muller Trophy, expanding recognition for female footballers. Barcelona’s Raphinha and PSG’s Ousmane Dembele are currently seen as leading candidates for the Men’s Ballon d’Or. At least one hundred journalists from top footballing nations will cast votes to decide the winners in each category.
